Vote!

I've been undecided about who I am going to vote for this year. I've never been one to get into politics only because I have NO CLUE about them whatsoever. But this year was different. This election makes me feel nervous. I didn't want to vote for someone just because that's what everyone else around me was doing; I wanted to know why I was voting for someone. So I've been listening, looking, and browsing my way around blogs and friends opinions to better understand politics. I think I have a much better understanding of some of the terms used. ( I didn't know what socialism really meant, or free trade, or universal health care or a lot of hot topics).

The things that have really bugged me are all the bashing emails I've been getting and the bashing commercials I see/hear. I don't want to hear that stuff, it doesn't help, it actually hinders my opinion.

So again, this election makes me nervous. I want my family to be prepared for anything that comes along in the future. I want to make sure we are listening to the Prophets promptings. We have an envelope of money just for food storage items. We bought a fire-proof safe today; Ethan's been wanting one for awhile.

And what's a post without a picture. Enjoy, vote, be prepared.

So than did you decide who you are voting for? You should know that there is no taboo topic to be discussed on blogs.

I do follow politics and even I have had a hard time this time around picking a candidate that I could back. I am not impressed with either candidate. I hope that your political is or has been cleared. Thanks for sharing!! Everybody if you haven't had the chance to vote early ballot make sure you get out and vote on election day.

Darren and I are very into politics this time around, Darren even more so then me. I spent almost 3 hours in line at the DMV with both kids just to get my Utah license so that I could register and then drove to downtown Salt Lake after that with them to register. So needless to say we think it's important. Funny thing though, Darren and I feel the exact same on most all the issues but we aren't voting the same. He is voting constitution party because he doesn't feel he can support either candidate. While I feel the same I'm still voting for McCain and to sum up the reasoning without a lot of words and getting into too much detail it's because Obama quite frankly scares the crap out of me thinking about how much more he can screw things up than McCain in my opinion. So there's our 2 cents haha Politics can be so touchy with people but it just comes down to the fact that it's important to know what's going on around you and to vote no matter what way you sway.

I'm with your friend Traci's comment above. Obama is scary and neither candidate is great. McCain just feels like the lesser of two evils, to me, and has actually proven his allegiance and pride in the USA (POW for 10 years, military service, etc). I honestly do not feel that Obama appreciates the USA (I have a lot of political and speech proof to back, but I'll spare you) so how could he represent us fairly? Also, he is very socialist. Some of the things he is campaigning for are responsible for making China what it is today. That is just plain SCARY to me! Either way, the next four years are going to be a bumpy ride, I think. BUT, the saving grace: we have survived terrible presidents in our past; Nixon, Clinton. I am nervous though. I just want the elections to be over so we can know what we're in for already.

Good luck making your choice, this election seems tougher than any for me.
